Pre-employment rail track maintenance programme

This is a 12 week programme for people who want to work in rail track maintenance. It is 10 weeks of theory and practical while you complete an NVQ in rail track maintenance and 2 week work experience with an employer working on live tracks. The aim is to to give you the knowledge and skills to work safely on rail tracks and then to help you get your PTS license which you must have to work on the rail tracks. This license requires a company to sponsor you and we have sponsors ready to do this.

Additional information:

This opportunity is open for people aged 19-23 years old who are unemployed. The work is a physical role, that will be outside working on railway lines. The course is a blend of online tutor led learning and face to face practical's so the ability to do the basics of a computer is beneficial. Some courses may be fully face to face depending on the class size.

On successful completion of the NVQ there will be a medical and drugs and alcohol testing which you must pass in order to progress to the PTS license and employment opportunities.
